May Boat Shows: Boat Show Palma and Denia Boat Show
At the beginning of May, the boating world had two important dates in its diary: the 33rd Boat Show Palma (Balearic Islands) and the 9th Denia Boat Show (Alicante).
33rd Boat Show Palma
This year, once again the port of Palma de Mallorca played host to the Balearic Island’s Recreational Sailing Show. The 33rd Boat Show Palma took place from 28th April to 2nd May 2016. The event was situated in the port of Palma de Mallorca, more specifically the Muelle Viejo dock, the Lonja P1-P2-P3 piers, and the Muelle Escalera Real, Muelle Viejo and Muelle de Consigna docks.
This year there were 220 exhibitors, 95% of whom were directly related to the recreational sailing sector.
The visitor profile, apart from comprising many different nationalities, was more technical and specialised. A change was also noted in the habits of sailors, with a heavy interest in hire and nautical tourism. The boat show welcomed 31 companies from the sector specialising in recreational nautical-touristic proposals, including standup paddle board hire, sailing clubs, sailing boat hire and and small, medium and large motor boat hire.
9th Denia Boat Show
Denia Marina was the official venue for the Denia Boat Show, which took place between 29th April and 2nd May. This project, now in its 9th year, is always warmly welcomed by enthusiasts and professionals from the nautical sector, and this year visitors were able to try their hand at watersports under professional guidance and for free.
The show brought together many companies from the nautical sector, including boat brokerage, training, watersports and boat hire. The latest developments from major companies in the nautical sector were represented in both the land and floating exhibitions.
During the days of the show, the Mundo Marino catamaran made trips to the Cape of San Antonio Marine Reserve and there were introductions to rowing, canoeing and paddle boarding, plus the “surfing experience” for children with simulators, which were all a huge success.
This year both the organisers and the exhibitors alike were extremely pleased with the successfully high levels of participation in all the programmed activities and watersports.
