Sailing itinerary for Naples and the Amalfi Coast

Wind and Weather

The Amalfi Coast is very calm and there are not many strong winds in the area. Typically, winds are from east or northeast and below 15 knots. Occasionally there are winds of 20 knots, but the usual is days of absolute calm and light winds. Day 1. Naples (0+NM)

Day 3. Capri – Amalfi (23NM)

We leave Capri and we head to the Amalfi Coast. We will go first to Amalfi’s town. Throughout history this was an important maritime city, and there are buildings of great historical value. One of them is the Duomo, the cathedral, original thanks to its green and white tones.

Day 4. Amalfi – Vietri sul Mare (9NM)

We will reach Vietri sul Mare, the southernmost town on this sailing itinerary for Naples and the Amalfi Coast. This place is known for its handmade pottery that decorates all the buildings. In addition, we can admire the beauty of nature while sailing or relax on the beach of pebbles and gray sand. If we need supplies, we can go to Salerno, just a couple of miles east.

Day 5. Vietri sul Mare – Conca dei Marini – Positano (15NM)

We will know the Amalfi Coast from east to west with a stop at Conca dei Marini, where you can visit the Emerald Cave, which you can access only by sea. In the route to Positano we will pass to pass through Furore, where we can see its bridge and the fjord that goes into the cliffs. Finally we will arrive at Positano, the most popular town in this part of the Italian coast with the crystal clear water of its beaches.

Day 6. Positano – Sorrento (17NM)

We will go back to Naples and we will stop in Sorrento. It will be a day to admire the beauty of the cliffs. We will see both caves and coves caves that we can approach with our rental boat.

Day 7. Sorrento – Pompeii – Naples (20NM)

The last day of our sailing itinerary for Naples and the Amalfi Coast we will know the history of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. We will leave Sorrento and go near the ruins of this city, which we can visit if we want. On the way back to Naples we can observe the majestic Vesuvius to starboard. Finally, we can enjoy the Neapolitan night.
